Say “Sherwood Forest” and you probably think of Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian and Merry Men. Well, the Key Campaign Team has reason to be merry and it has nothing to do with splitting arrows or the Sheriff of Nottingham. The good folks at Sherwood Forest Housing Co-op in Abbotsford let us know that they passed a resolution supporting the You Hold the Key campaign. Not only that, they’ve sent copies to Rich Coleman, the B.C. Minister Responsible for Housing, and Hon. Jean-Yves Duclos (federal Minister Responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation).

For Judy Patka from Totem Co-op, it’s about hope. And how fitting is that for the holiday season?

Blog Entry 193: Co-op members share Key Campaign Holiday wishes

The Holiday Season is one of hope. And the holiday spirit was in the air early back in November during the CHF BC AGM -- certainly among the members who shared their hopes that the federal and provincial governments will get together and deliver low-income and other co-op households the Christmas gift they’ve all been waiting for: a federally-funded, provincially-delivered rent supplement program for co-op members who are at risk of homelessness as federal subsidies expire.

Blog Entry 192: Key Campaign courier braves long, cold night to shine light on co-op housing crunch

Neither snow nor rain nor cold nor gloom of night could stop Key Campaign courier CHF BC President Patty Shaw from making the journey to Esquimalt council chambers on Monday night. Patty gave yet another presentation on the You Hold the Key Campaign and from the reception she got from the council, it sounds like we’ll soon be able to add Esquimalt to the list of Vancouver Island municipalities that have endorsed the campaign (Sidney, Saanich, and the City of Victoria have already passed resolutions).
