Folks, Sheriff Don is mighty proud of ya! We asked you to round up a co-op posse and get as many members as possible to the polls to vote for candidates who support the You Hold the Key campaign. Well, the results speak for themselves. You helped to elect 229 MPs who put fixing the co-op housing crunch in to their party platforms. That’s an historic achievement. Now we have to make sure those MPs deliver on their promises. So keep watching the Key Campaign’s website for updates and suggestions on how you can help hold the new crop of MPs to their collective word.

Advance Polling starts tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 9 and runs until Oct. 12. Your voter information card tells you where your advance polling station is. Election Blog Entry 17: Federal candidates weigh in on co-op housing crunch

The list of federal candidates weighing in on where they stand on the co-op housing crunch continues to grow. CHC BC Director Yuri Artibise was front and centre at the Federal Election Forum on Urban Issues held in Vancouver last week and heard views from three candidates on co-ops and the need for a federally-funded, provincially-delivered rent supplement program for low-income co-op members. Yuri counted Vancouver Centre Liberal Hedy Fry, Vancouver East Green candidate Wes Regan and Kennedy Stewart, NDP candidate for Burnaby South as supporting that position.

Election Blog Entry 15: Let your fingers do the talking -- virtual candidates’ forums and online asking via keyboard boost Key Campaign!

CHF BC President and Co-op Champion Patty Shaw let her fingers do the talking during the online all-candidate forum hosted by Victoria Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. Patty was among those emailing and tweeting questions to Victoria candidates, including Joanne Roberts (Green), Murray Rankin (NDP), and John Rizutti (Conservative). “Both Roberts and Rankin specifically mentioned replacing co-op subsidies,” Patty reports. Election Blog Entry 14: Town Hall on Affordable Housing sees federal candidates support Key Campaign

Nice crowd, energized candidates and a motivated moderator -- can’t ask for more than that at a campaign event, but in fact, there was more at the BC Rental Housing Coalition’s Town Hall on Affordable Housing Wednesday night at UBC Robson Square.
