Organize It! (Updated) - Spring Education Conference 2018

Get your office in order and make your documents live again. Gain an understanding of what records are meaningful, useful and legally required as well as ideas for reviewing and reorganizing your co-op’s documents. Capture the stories they tell, the histories they record, the important decisions and milestones they contain.

Do you have decades of semi-organized papers and dusty records in your co-op office? Handwritten, typewritten, photocopied, folded and battered documents piling up? Not sure what you need or want to keep? Uncertain what can be shredded and what should be archived?

Join a group of peers for the best time you can have talking about old documents and dusty file boxes. You’ll explore a series of questions to answer as a community before embarking on your organizing project. You’ll consider tax requirements and PIPA protocols. You’ll review the practicalities and possibilities for a system of living records.  You’ll brainstorm fun and useful ways to hold onto your history while letting go of excessive paper files. Bring your jokes about filing. Leave with an action plan.
