CHF BC delegates enjoy upbeat and productive Semi-Annual General Meeting

CHF BC delegates came together on Saturday May 2 for a packed day of fun and business at CHF BC's Semi-Annual General Meeting.

Federation directors provided a rousing update on our progress in the You Hold the Key Campaign.  Members also heard progress reports on Federation programs and services, including Asset Management Planning, Aging in Place, Encasa Financial Inc., and new co-op development opportunities.

The always popular CHF BC Scholarship Fund presentations saw CHF BC award three scholarships to inspiring winners Meghan Brown from Sunbridge Co-op in Vancouver, Anika Vassell from Misty Ridge Co-op in Burnaby and Ruby Bissett from Westerdale Co-op in Vancouver.

In the afternoon, delegates took part in a lively member forum to review CHF BC's priorities for 2015-16. Then followed a lively discussion and unanimous approval of two resolutions:

  1. You Hold the Key – Fix the Co-op Housing CrunchSafeguarding Affordable Co-op Homes
  1. Protecting Housing Co-ops on Leased Land

Delegates also adopted the Federation's budget for the coming year, approving a dues increase of 10 cents per unit per month effective August 1, 2015.
