Co-operative City Conference links co-ops to City’s green vision

The potential for co-operative enterprise to provide a powerful boost to Vancouver's vision of becoming the "greenest city" by 2020 is the subject of the Co-operative City Conference on November 23.  The Conference will showcase the many ways a co-operative business model can support sustainability. It will also be an opportunity to talk about concrete opportunities for strategic partnerships between the City and co-operatives to increase sustainability in areas such as:

  • Arts and culture
  • Local food systems
  • Affordable housing
  • Green industry
  • Community energy

The conference will be held in recognition of 2012 as the UN International Year of Co-operatives. It will showcase examples of co-ops and sustainability through presentations and workshops, and with site visits where participants will see the co-operative model in action: creating community, making connections, and reducing waste.
