Are you ready to be a CHF Canada director? - March 10, 2015

Are you ready to be a CHF Canada director?
CHF BC to endorse one BC candidate

CHF Canada delegates will elect four at-large directors at the national AGM to be held in Charlottetown, PEI June 3-6, 2015.
Glen Armstrong (Pine Ridge Housing Co-op, Burnaby) has served the maximum term allowed under CHF Canada’s by-laws and will be retiring from the board this year.  Glen has done an outstanding job as a CHF Canada director, and CHF BC hopes that his replacement will also be from British Columbia to maintain our regional presence on the national board.
The CHF BC board has mapped out a process to increase the chances that a BC candidate will be elected again this year:

  1. Interested candidates must file the required nomination papers with CHF Canada by the March 31 deadline
  2. The CHF BC board will invite all declared candidates from BC to attend its meeting on April 1
  3. Following presentations from the candidates and questions from CHF BC directors, the CHF BC board will endorse one candidate
  4. All remaining declared candidates will be asked to voluntarily withdraw from the election to avoid splitting the vote between more than one candidate from BC

By following this process in the past, CHF BC has ensured that British Columbia is fully represented on the national board and that BC’s priorities and interests are always part of any national discussion.
CHF BC’s next board meeting will be held on April 1, 2015 in our Vancouver offices at 220-1651 Commercial Drive, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  All declared candidates for an at-large position on the CHF Canada board will be invited to attend and answer the following questions:

  1. Why are you running for the CHF Canada board?
  2. What are the three qualities you possess that will help you to be an effective CHF Canada director?
  3. What, if any, are the significant differences or conflicts between the mandates of CHF Canada and CHF BC?
  4. Tell us a bit about your housing co-op.  How have you been involved?

If it isn’t convenient for you to attend in person on April 1, you are welcome to attend via Skype or telephone.

Candidates are also asked to provide a short resume in advance of the April 1 board meeting that highlights the skills and experience relevant to the job of a CHF Canada director.  Please email your resume to
