CHF BC launches Refinancing and Renewal Program for members

BC’s non-profit housing co-ops face challenges as they plan for the future. Not only are many co-op operating agreements coming to an end, but co-op buildings are aging and may need rehabilitation or upgrades for accessibility and safety. CHF BC's Refinancing and Renewal Program offers co-ops new options for asset management needed for important capital projects.

This new initiative has triggered a lot of interest and many questions. We think it’s one of the most important things to happen in the sector and that it will provide tremendous benefits to co-ops developing and implementing long-term plans. We introduced the new program to members with a series of information sessions beginning in June 2013. Within a month, almost a quarter of BC co-ops had sent representatives to attend a meeting to learn more. We'll offer more information sessions in the fall: watch our website for dates.

For co-ops that have already attended one of the sessions, the Program application form is now available on-line.
