CHF BC Essentials - September 4, 2012

Welcome back!

September's here and we're getting ready for a busy and exciting fall. To kick it off, we invite you to join us on Monday, September 10 at 7pm for a welcome-back Member Forum. We'll have a special guest speaker from the Vancouver Tool Library who will tell us how this tool-sharing co-op works.  You can see if membership in the Tool Library might be useful for your housing co-op.  Later in the month, join us to learn how CHF BC's 2020 Compass program can help your co-op get ready for the future at a free 2020 Compass Information session on Monday, September 24.

And there's more activity to come with our Fall Education Conference on October 20 in Burnaby and our Fall Island Education Day on November 3 in Victoria. There will be more Member Forums in October and November too — and don't forget to mark your calendars for the CHF BC Annual General Meeting on December 1.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

First CHF BC Scholarship winners receive cheques

CHF BC scholarship winners, Arielle dela Cruz Yip of Le Coeur Housing Co-op in Vancouver and Jazz Groden-Gilchrist of Heritage Housing Co-op in Vancouver, picked up their first scholarship cheques this August as they got ready to return to school in September. CHF BC presented the Aaron Webster Memorial Scholarship to Jazz and the CHF BC Scholarship to Arielle at the CHF BC Semi-Annual Meeting in May. Arielle is entering her second year of communications at Simon Fraser University and Jazz begins his studies at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design this year. Each scholarship is worth up to $5000 with $2000 in the first year and $1000 a year for up to three more years of undergraduate studies.

Get more information on the CHF BC Scholarship Program and watch for announcements at the beginning of 2013 for the next round of scholarships.
