Community meetings in Ridge-Meadows and southeast Vancouver - May 21, 2014

Co-op communities Hold the Key - come to a meeting near you!

Our You Hold the Key Campaign team has been holding meetings for co-ops in BC communities where members can discuss what the end of federal operating agreements and loss of subsidy means for them and learn more about our solution and how co-op members can get involved in the campaign.

"These meetings are so important," says CHF BC President, Isabel Evans. Evans is a member of Granville Gardens Co-op in Richmond where the campaign team held a co-op community meeting last month.

"At the Richmond meeting, members were able to get answers to questions about the impact of the loss of subsidy for their co-ops and their communities - but they also learned what it means on the bigger scale in BC and across the country. Everyone in Richmond came away inspired about what they can do to help us get a provincial solution that will help our most vulnerable members - seniors, low income and people with disabilities - stay in their homes."

You Hold the Key community meetings are scheduled for May and June in Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows and southeast Vancouver:

Monday, May 26, 7 pm  - Ford Road Co-op, Pitt Meadows

Thursday, June 26, 7 pm - Killarney Gardens Co-op, Southeast Vancouver

Sign-up online for the meeting in your community. Or if there is no meeting scheduled in your community and there hasn't been a meeting yet, let us know if your co-op can host one. Send an email to Don Hauka at dhauka@chf.bc.ca or Fiona Jackson at fjackson@chf.bc.ca. Remember, you hold the key!
