Housing co-ops' final countdown to election 2015 - September 25, 2015

Housing co-ops counting down to election day!

Four simple steps

Housing co-op communities across the country face a crisis. The end of federal operating agreements mean the loss of subsidies for low-income co-op members. People could lose their homes. The federal election on October 19 is your chance to do something about it. Here's how:

1. Attend

Attend an all-candidates' meeting!

In Metro Vancouver:

September 30 - 6:30 to 8:30 PM BC Rental Housing Coalition Townhall on Affordability - UBC Robson Square, Vancouver

Federal candidates are invited

In these communities:

September 28 - 6:30 to 8:00 PM Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge-Mission candidates' meet-and-greet - Ford Road Housing Co-op, Pitt Meadows

October 8 - 7:30 to 9:00 PM Saanich-Gulf Islands co-op housing event - Saanich Council Chambers, Victoria

Host your own event and invite candidates. Then let us know so we can help you promote it: keycampaign@chf.bc.ca.

2. Ask

Ask your candidates to support a provincial solution with federal funding.

3. Speak up and share

Speak up about what it means to vote co-op housing:

4. Vote

Vote for co-op housing. Better yet, vote early at an advanced polling station and avoid the rush. Then help make sure all your co-op's members have what they need so they can vote too.
