A Century of Co-operation Awards - Are you eligible?

CHF BC’s Aging in Place Committee is looking for nominations for our new Century of Co-operation Award

Are you eligible for our new Century of Co-operation Award? Do you know someone who would be eligible for this honour?

To qualify, you must be living in a CHF BC member housing co-op and your age plus the length of time you have lived in co-op housing needs to add up to 100 years or more.

Here's the formula: Member’s age + length of time living in co-op housing (current co-op or other co-op) = 100.

For example, a person who is 80 years old and has lived in co-op housing for 20 years qualifies with an even 100 years. We will recognize everyone who achieves 100 years or more in 2016. Application deadline October 17.

Download the application and send the completed form to members@chf.bc.ca, fax to 604-879-4611 (toll-free: 1-877-879-4611) or mail to:

How would you answer the National Housing Strategy Survey?

At the CHF BC and CHF Canada Member Forum this week in Vancouver, members came up with answers to the federal government's National Housing Strategy survey.

First they looked at the National Housing Strategy's seven priorities:

  1. Environmentally sustainable
  2. Performance tied to results
  3. Self-reliance
  4. Fiscally responsible
  5. Flexibility
  6. Community-centred
  7. Economic stability

And then matched these priorities with key messages that support housing co-ops:

  1. Value of co-op housing
  2. Protect co-op affordability
  3. Build more co-op housing

Just one example of the answers co-op members came up with included:

"I'm an immigrant and co-ops are places where immigrants can integrate, talk, learn. In other housing, I never talked."

How would you answer the survey? Follow the link:

Let's Talk Housing! Deadline for responses is October 21.
