Join CHF BC

Housing co-ops in British Columbia are welcome to become members of CHF BC. We would be pleased to come to your co-op to tell you about the benefits of membership. If you would like more information, please contact Fiona Jackson.

Why join CHF BC? Here are six reasons
  1. Making the most of your co-op's money:
Through participation in CHIP (Co-op Housing Investment Pool) it is possible to generate enough additional interest on your co-op's chequing account to more than pay the annual CHF BC membership dues. It's as easy as tagging your chequing account a CHIP account. More…

  2. Supporting co-op management
Educational conferences, tailor-made workshops, mediators and our Resource Library help to develop the skills needed to foster healthy co-op communities. Staff are available for phone consultations on co-op regulations or procedures. More…

  3. Representing co-op interests
CHF BC works with all levels of the government and affiliated organizations to improve conditions for co-op members. To have a strong voice for co-op housing we must be united. As of August 2008, CHF BC has 236 members representing 12,276 units of housing. More…

  4. Saving money: Commercial Services Program
If it's time for your co-op to start replacing or purchasing new flooring, appliances or waste management then our Commercial Services Program will save you money as well as a tremendous amount of volunteer energy. More…

  5. Staying in touch and informed
Our magazine, SCOOP, is sent to CHF BC members, keeping you abreast of the latest issues important to your co-op. We also send out regular mail-outs and emails to our co-ops advising them of the latest news and events. And of course, there is this website.

As you can see, the benefits certainly outweigh the fees. Membership fees for the 2009-2010 year are $3.40 per unit per month. The CHF BC fiscal year ends on July 31st. If you have any specific member requests please feel free to call us.
