Breakfast Town Hall

Jun 11, 2010  6 am to 9 am
200-5550 Fraser Street, Vancouver

Join us for breakfast as we link together to the live webcast townhall on Scale of the Sector from CHF Canada's AGM in London, Ontario.

Please register with us, info@chf.bc.ca, if you plan to come to our breakfast event here in Vancouver.

Here's what CHF Canada says about this first ever webcast from their AGM:

"Canada's 100,000 co-op homes require 2,200 separate boards and are served by 18 different federations. In this ground-breaking, interactive town hall event we'll explore some far-reaching questions about the future of the co-op housing sector: are our co-ops and the federations that serve them the right size? Or does their small scale put them at risk down the road? And if so, what, if anything, can we or should we be doing about it?"

The session in London will be led by Nicholas Gazzard, Thom Armstrong, Lori Simpson and Scott Jackson.

CANCELLED Risky business - Practical ideas to protect your co-op

Jan 20, 2010  7 pm to 9 pm
Howard Johnson Hotel, 4670 Elk Lake Road, Victoria

Each year, the Agency for Co-operative Housing carries out a risk assessment for the federal program co-ops. How do we determine a co-op's risk level? What factors are involved in determining a co-op's risk rating? And more importantly, how can using risk-based strategies help your co-op?

We'll discuss how co ops have reduced their risk rating, share some of the tools and best practises we've seen in our work with co-ops and give you some solid ideas for your co-op to work on. (Agency workshops are geared to federal-program co-ops administered by the Agency but others may register.)

This is a free information session for co-ops that are CHF BC members. Non-member fee: $100 per co-op for up to two registrants. Agency staff Franca Sorace, Quentin Wright and Joanne Mick will be there.

This event has been cancelled due to low registration.

Due to the high demand we expect for this free event, we will be confirming just one registration for each CHF BC member co-op. We will keep a waiting list in case there is room for more people.
