The City approved a lease renewal framework in February 2017, but no co-op has been able to come to an agreement with the City since then under that framework. It’s time for a reset!
CHF BC is inviting the co-ops that have leases with the City to attend meetings to review the current situation and re-calibrate our positions. Given that there are about 20 co-ops with short-term or ground rent leases and another 30 with longer-term agreements, it makes sense to hold a couple of meetings. The meeting for co-ops in the second group will take place on February 11, and we look forward to talking together to see how best to proceed in 2019. We know this is still a critical issue for many of our members.
We encourage all co-ops on the list below to send a representative or two. For now, we intend the meetings to take place at the CHF BC offices on Commercial Drive at 7:00 pm (doors to open at 6:30 pm). If we need more space, we will change the location to accommodate more people.
Co-ops that originally had leases scheduled to expire before 2052 are set to meet on February 11, 2019. Please register below.
Invited co-ops are: Alder Bay, Alexander Laidlaw, Alexander Street, Arlington Grove, DeCosmos Village, False Creek, Le Coeur, Matheson Heights, Jasmine, Kaslo Gardens, Killarney Gardens, Kinross Creek, Mau Dan Gardens, Riverside Landing, Still Creek, Sunbridge and Twin Rainbows.
The shorter-term lease co-ops will meet on January 29. See the listing for that event here. Light refreshments will be served at both meetings.
