There was a full house on February 28 with fifty percent of Island co-ops sending delegates to the Vancouver Island Council meeting.
The meeting was held at the Hotel Grand Pacific and members had good things to say about the new meeting venue. CHF BC directors Art Farquharson, Dave Maier, and Jared Melvin reported on the Scholarship Fund, Provincial budget and the AGM held in November 2018. Kerry Panter was pleased to report on CHF BC’s launch of over 30 new online meeting tools (watch for them live on the site after April 6). Tiffany Duzita provided an informative presentation on initiatives underway with the Community Land Trust and gave members a realistic overview of the work and timeline involved in redevelopment and renovation projects.
Mark your calendars – the Spring Education Conference will take place at the Westin Wall Centre in Burnaby on April 6. If you’d like to attend the Education Conference plan to take advantage of a new free return shuttle between the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and the Westin Wall Centre.
The next Council meeting is scheduled for May 6 at the Hotel Grand Pacific.
