On Saturday, September 28, Island members enjoyed a full-day of education with workshops that reviewed CHF BC’s Meeting Tools and other online resources, the basics on co-op maintenance, a look at co-op redevelopment that brought members up-to-date on the work of Community Land Trust (CLT), and a discussion on dealing with disputes under the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT).
Members came away with enthusiasm for how much they learned and a new awareness of all the online resources available to them.
“These events are awesome! Learn a lot, understand more and get to talk to other co-op members – SUPER VALUABLE,” Amy Sharp, Greenway Co-op.
“These events are always a wonderful opportunity for focusing awareness on important concerns and networking,” Scott Lawrence, Oak Bay Co-op.
Did you know? Any member of a CHF BC member co-op can sign-up to access resources for members.
If you’re an Island member and missed this education event, don’t worry! Our Fall Education Conference on October 19 offers a choice of twelve workshops and a plenary session on the Civil Resolution Tribunal. And Island members get discounts on registration and a free shuttle service from the ferry for this full-day of learning.
Also, don’t miss sending a delegate from your co-op to the Vancouver Island Council meeting on October 8, where we’ll hold elections for an Island Director and a Chair and Vice-Chair for the Vancouver Island Council.
