This housing cooperative is a small, 35-unit, self-governing, 55-and-over, non-profit community run by member volunteers. The building has three floors, no elevator, and laundry facilities on the main floor. Housing charges include heat, hot water, and laundry. Parking spots are assigned by waiting list, but plenty of street parking is nearby. Pets and smoking are not allowed in the building or on the grounds.
Volunteer participation is encouraged, as this is how tasks are completed, and housing charges are kept reasonable. Through two annual general meetings, active committee work, special projects, and social events, the membership remains engaged in creating a cooperative community. Therefore, individuals seeking only a place to live may find that co-op housing is not suited to them.
The co-op uses the National Occupancy Standards to match each unit to the appropriate number of occupants. Members are expected to be full-time residents of their unit, and any absences exceeding 30 days require Board approval.
Preference for membership will be given to Victoria residents.
