UPDATE: Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2) Action Plans
Every co-op in the Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2) will need to complete an Action Plan covering the next three years. The launch of the Self Assessment and Action Plan will take place in the week of 7 March 2022, with a submission deadline of 1 April 2022 for your plan.

Open Letter to the BC Government on the Climate Emergency
We call on the BC government to recognize the urgency and alarm that people all over the province are feeling as the climate crisis directly impacts our communities and our health: deadly heat waves, wildfires, drought, floods, crop failure, fisheries collapse, and costly evacuations and infrastructure damage. These climate-related impacts are unprecedented and intensifying. Indigenous peoples stand to be disproportionately impacted by climate events despite successfully taking care of the land since time immemorial.

FCHI-2: A New Rental Assistance Program is Launching Soon
September 1, 2020 marks an important date for co-ops that began under federal funding programs. CMHC’s new Rental Assistance Program (RAP, also known as FCHI-2, or the Federal Community Housing Initiative – Phase 2) is about to launch.
The co-op housing sector lobbied hard for the federal government to respond to the challenge of expiring operating agreements and RAP is the successful result of those efforts.

A fond farewell to co-op champion Kerry Smith
For more than 30 years, Kerry Smith has worked tirelessly on behalf of the co-op sector – advocating, advising, and supporting with knowledge and wisdom in a variety of roles – and will be deeply missed as she begins her retirement effective today.
A treasured friend and colleague, Kerry has been looking forward to this next chapter in her life for some time and has decided to move up her retirement date to get a jump on all the adventures she has planned (many involving her trail bike, Mollie!).
