2023 Island Education Day Facilitators

At CHF BC, we believe in the power of belonging. We are committed to creating a sense of community and inclusivity in everything we do. Our partnerships, advocacy work, programs, services, and decision-making processes are all geared towards fostering a sense of belonging among our members and their communities.

We are thrilled to have a team of talented facilitators who will be leading our sessions. Their expertise and experience will provide valuable insights into how we can create a strong sense of belonging in our communities.

Robert Milne

Robert (Bob) Milne has been practicing law in Victoria as a general solicitor since 1975.

He advises and represents businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals in areas of corporate (including society and co-operative), commercial, real estate development, conveyancing, wills, trusts and estate law.

Rob will be the Workshop Leader for Ask The Lawyers Workshop at the 2023 Island Education Day


Grant Haddock

Grant Haddock was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1992. His core areas of practice are co-operative housing law, strata property law, residential and commercial tenancy, human rights, privacy and construction law. Grant has acted for numerous housing providers and construction companies, appearing for them at all levels of court and at various tribunals. Grant has been a course leader and frequent speaker at educational conferences sponsored by industry leaders.


Doug Clarke

Doug Clarke, Emergency Management Community Liaison

Doug will educate you on the preparedness of the City of Victoria, the region, and teach you how best to self-manage in all types of emergencies.

Doug will be the Workshop Leader for Emergency Preparedness at the 2023 Island Education Day. 


Michelle Cooper-Iverson

Chief Operating Officer, Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC’s) Group of Social Purpose Entities

Michelle oversees the day-to-day operations of the CHF BC team. She focuses on fostering a corporate culture that promotes accountability to the international cooperative principles, keeping ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others front and center in the group’s business operations and relationship with staff and community partners.

Michelle will be the Workshop Leader for Effective Meetings at the 2023 Island Education Day. 


Brian Eng

Brian has been an activist within the co-op housing sector since 1990. 

He has lived and worked in co-ops and has been on the board of local and national federations.  He has worked as a manager in a number of housing co-ops and is familiar with different operational and program systems.  He is a skilled meeting chair and workshop leader.  Brian is always excited to help housing co-op boards and members achieve their operational, planning and community development goals.

Brian will be the Workshop Leader for Effective Meetings at the 2023 Island Education Day.
