Voting Cards

Voting cards are recommended because they:

  • easily identify that the person is a member and is eligible to vote or receive a ballot,
  • help the chairperson count the vote and acknowledge the mover and seconder of a motion,
  • help if there is someone maintaining a speakers list.

Voting cards should include the name of the co-op and the unit number. Be bold! Voting cards that are over-sized, colourful and laminated are easy to see and count from a distance, are unlikely to be taken away by the member and are not readily replicated.

Here is a voting card template that can be modified for your next meeting.

Give members their voting cards when they arrive and sign in for the meeting. Collect voting cards as members leave and store them for use at your next meeting.
