City of Vancouver unveils three Woodward’s proposals

  3 June 2010

The City of Vancouver has unveiled three design submissions for the future of the landmark Woodward’s building. The three proposed designs were produced by the shortlisted developer/architect teams of:
1. Westbank Projects with architect Gregory Henriquez
2. Concert Properties with architects Ron Yuen and Mark Whitehead
3. Millennium Development Corporation with architects Stu Lyon and Chuck Brook
The City will host several open houses in July to share information, answer questions and gather feedback on the three development proposals, as well as feedback on nonprofit uses for the additional space within the site.
Open Houses – W Room (101 West Hastings Street)
Thursday, July 15, 1-5 pm
Sunday, July 18*, 11 am-3 pm
Monday, July 19, 4-8 pm
(*date when developers will be in attendance)
In early September, before presenting their recommendations to Council, city staff will report back to the community on what developer they will be recommending to Council and why. City Council is expected to hear the recommendations of the Woodward’s Steering Committee in mid-September. Before making a final decision on a developer, Council will hold a special meeting to hear from the public directly.
