SCOOP was the old name of CHF BC’s member magazine. You can review back issues of the magazine in this archive if you are logged in.
NOTE: The online version of the publication changed its name in 2022 as part of CHF BC’s journey towards truth and reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. The original name of the magazine had an uncomfortable connection to the “60’s scoop”, the name given to the mass and systematic removal of Indigenous children from their families. Many children were forced into the child welfare system starting in the 1960s.
While the original name was created with no intention to bring up memories of this practice — the name partially played on the idea of the word co-op and old newspaper stories—as soon as the unfortunate connection was brought to our attention, we immediately decided to change the name, and be transparent about the process.
