Reminder: Coquitlam Housing Needs Report Survey

  14 October 2021

The City of Coquitlam is currently undertaking a Housing Needs Assessment. This will be presented to Coquitlam council in the Spring. City staff ask Coquitlam residents to consider filling in the Housing Needs Report Survey at letstalkcoquitlam.ca/housingneeds by October 15th. They are seeking a diversity of voices.

Here’s the message from Genevieve Bucher (Director, Community Planning, City of Coquitlam)

Coquitlam residents, businesses and non-profit housing partners are invited to provide feedback to support the development of a Housing Needs Report for the community.

In April 2019, the B.C. Government amended the Local Government Act to require all local governments to develop a Housing Needs Report by April 2022.

When complete, the report will provide information on the City’s current and anticipated housing needs. This includes the number and type of housing units needed in Coquitlam over the next 10 years. The report will be considered when amending the Citywide Official Community Plan. The Housing Needs Report will include a combination of statistical data from sources such as Statistics Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), BC Housing and others. It will also consider community and stakeholder input in order to create a comprehensive picture of housing needs.
