Vancouver Island Council meeting holds elections and member forum focused on the future

Vancouver Island co-op members came together on Wednesday, October 15 for the last meeting of the Vancouver Island Council in 2014.Delegates heard updates on the latest developments in CHF BC’s You Hold the Key Campaign and Refinancing and Renewal Program.  They applauded good news in CHF BC’s efforts to develop new housing co-ops and marked their calendars for the Federation’s upcoming annual general meeting on November 29.The room buzzed with good ideas as delegates worked together in a Member Forum to answer the question: “What’s the most important thing co-ops can do to prepare for a thriving and prosperous future?”The meeting featured elections for one Vancouver Island Director and the positions of Council chair and vice-chair.Congratulations to Art Farquharson of Seawalk Housing Co-op, who was re-elected for a two-year term to the CHF BC board.Congratulations also to Avis Michalovsky of Pioneer Housing Co-op and Corinne Overbeck of Lang Cove Housing Co-op, who will serve as Council chair and vice-chair respectively.Photos:Island co-op members work together to answer Member Forum question: “What’s the most important thing co-ops can do to prepare for a thriving and prosperous future?”Vancouver Island Council Chair, Avis Michalovsky (right) and Vice-Chair, Corinne Overbeck (left).CHF BC Island Director, Art Farquharson.
