Our education team has lined up an exciting menu of online and in-person workshops this winter.

From a practical session on spotting and fixing a dysfunctional board to an important session on what to do as a Treasurer, you’ll find our winter 2022/2023 education sessions interactive and informative.

December 1: Membership Terminations
 
The easiest way to deal with membership terminations is to implement strategies that help to avoid them! That’s where this workshop will start.
 
 
December 8: Secretary Survival Skills
 
The secretary works with the board chair, other directors and management staff to fulfill co-op secretarial duties. This workshop will provide an overview of the main secretarial functions in the context of a housing co-op.

January 12: Preventive Maintenance

Your property and buildings are your most important assets. Gain insight in to planning a routine preventative-maintenance calendar to ensure your co-ops are well-maintained.


January 19: What Makes a Good Board?

The best workshop for a newly elected board: packed full with the basic knowledge all housing co-op directors need as well as tools for how to work effectively to ensure good governance, sound management and principled leadership.
 


January 26: Yikes, I’m the Treasurer!

Curious about your co-op’s financial responsibilities? Want to learn more about being a treasurer? Join Andrew Sitko as he clarifies what matters in this practical, hands-on session.

February 2: What Makes a Good Director?

Good directors make a good board. With a focus on the duty of care and the duty of loyalty this basic primer focuses on how each individual director ensures the board’s success.
 


February 9: Board Woes: Spotting and Fixing Dysfunction

Explore some of the symptoms of an under-performing board and provide practical actions to help improve your board’s performance.

Day and Time

  • Workshops take place weekday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PDT.

Online Registration

  • Member rates are $40/person or $200 for six registrations from one co-op.
  • Non-member rates are $80/person or $400 for six registrations from one co-op.

In-Person Registration

  • Member rates are $80/person
  • Non-member rates are $160/person
