Hoarding is a complex social problem that may negatively impact the individual and the surrounding community. This workshop provides information about what hoarding is and why it persists, as well as introduces harm reduction strategies co-op members may use to support someone who hoards.

Description:

Dylan Goggs is a social entrepreneur and works closely with the non-profit housing and commercial business sectors. In 2010 he launched his first social venture, CleanStart BC, a property services company with a social mandate that provides employment for people with barriers to employment including poverty and disability. He is passionate about finding creative solutions for social employment and attributes his success to the support of his family, community partners, and friends from the business community.

Kate Kysow is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at The University of British Columbia and a member of the UBC Centre for Collaborative Research on Hoarding. Her research focuses on community interventions for hoarding.
