May is Asian Heritage Month and we celebrate the rich Asian heritage of our communities.
We acknowledge the Asian-heritage community leaders and builders and want to uplift their voices and stories. We will also begin the work to formally tackle anti-Asian racism while acknowledging that this is an ongoing process and just the beginning of our work to dismantle structural racism.
In May 2021 we offered two anti-Asian racism training webinars with Dr. Grace Wong-Sneddon:
Stronger Together: Stand up to Asian Hate on May 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Building Resilience Together: Supporting Asian Communities on May 25 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (with BC Non-Profit Housing Association – no charge)
We also featured a FREE double-bill Movie Night of Cedar and Bamboo and All Our Father’s Relations. The directors of Cedar and Bamboo, Kamala Todd and Diana Leung were invited to join us to discuss the film.
