With the theme “the times they are a-changing,” CHF BC’s Fall Education Conference on Saturday, October 26, took on the realities of the end of co-op operating agreements, the challenges of going it alone after those agreements end, and the tools needed to make the journey.Workshops ranged from all-day workshops “Boot Camp for co-op directors” and “Navigating difficult conversations”, to half-day workshops on issues ranging from hoarding to legal duties of co-op directors. And in a departure from the usual format, a panel of experienced co-operators shared their thoughts on how co-ops can best manage the challenges they face in a panel session called “Beyond Future Shock”.The excellent lunch also gave over 130 co-op members and others a chance to network and compare notes on their conference experience. Many of the conference workshops are also available as portable workshops we can bring to your co-op.All conference participants can now access workshop materials online.
