The Washington Co-op is a housing co-op located in the centralized Burnside neighbourhood of Victoria, BC. There are 59 units of two types: a 38-unit apartment building with one- and two-bedroom units and balconies (no pets), and 21 townhouses for families and children (one pet allowed).
Members are part of a community living together in harmony, and are "co-owners". A member-based and elected board governs the co-op. Members and paid contractors assist in the operations of the co-op. As a member, your individual voice helps create a community that fosters democratic member control. Working together we have created a strong co-operative housing association, and we invite you to join us.
The co-op does not receive subsidy from the government; instead, it relies on member-paid housing charges (rent) to operate. Subsidy is not available. There is a share purchase required to become a co-op member. A payment plan can be arranged if necessary.
The co-op is a member of the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC), a co-operative association made up member housing co-ops and related organizations in British Columbia.
