About Sam Greer Place Housing Co-operative

Sam Greer is a 15-unit housing co-op made up of 7 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom suites surrounding a central courtyard.

We have three heritage buildings on-site that were renovated into apartments when Sam Greer Co-op was established in 1977, these units range in size from 380-700 square feet.

We have five townhouses that were purpose built in 1977; these units are 800 square feet. We do not have any wheelchair-accessible units, currently. (2022)

We share a common laundry room, tool shed, recycling shed, bike parking and composter. There is limited on-site parking. Sam Greer is a smoke-free co-op. A pet may be allowed. All pets must be spayed or neutered.

We are unable to offer housing charge assistance to new members.

We are a joint membership-based co-operative and require all members to be active participants in the financial health, maintain our property, and contribute to the wellbeing to our unique and small community. 

Those members that we seek to join Sam Greer Place Co-operative are those that:

·   Attend and participate in meetings

·   Keep updated, and informed about co-op practices

·   Are a stellar neighbour

·   Keep your unit in excellent condition

·   Act and live co-operatively by following our co-op’s rules and policies

·   Pay housing charges on time. 

We invite wait-list applications from qualified individuals and families. Our application consists of a downloadable, fillable pdf form on this website. Part of our application process requires a letter that describes your understanding of co-op living and how you would be a valuable member of our community. 

When a vacancy arises, applicants will be contacted for an interview.

The vacancy/turnover rate is very low, and our waiting list is long. We keep applications on file for 12 months. You must renew your application annually via mail by November 1st to stay on the waitlist, at which time you can update changes to your personal information.
