During Co-op Week 2023, Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) hosted an online a panel discussion entitled “How can co-operatives overcome barriers to climate action?”

This online panel brought together co-ops of various sizes from different sectors. Each face unique challenges specific to their industry, but also holds similar opportunities for leveraging larger networks of support for sharing knowledge and resources.

On July 19, 2023, a devastating fire at Devonshire Court Housing Co-operative in Maple Ridge destroyed 12 homes. Thankfully everyone made it out safely. Displaced members are staying in a hotel for the near future but urgently need to find new longer-term accommodations while their homes are restored. Ideally the housing will be located near the Maple Ridge area.

Our friends at the Youth Excellence Society (YES)—best know for their summer camp programs—have some exciting news!

The have launched a brand new YES Scholarship Program. The YES believes that all youth should be able to follow their passions, and they are excited to bring this opportunity to their Alumni Participants.

The first resolution members will be voting on at the 2023 CHF Canada national business meeting promotes co-op action towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Co-op 2030 Vision.

As a co-op member, you have a say. Encourage your co-op delegate to review the 2023 Resolutions package on the CHF Canada Annual Meeting event site, and be ready to vote June 17.

This is a day to reflect on the devastating impact of racism and colonialism across this land we call Canada.  It’s also a day to strengthen our resolve to extend the co-op principle [PDF] of Concern for Community  to communities that have suffered injustice and exclusion for too long.

Our friends at the Co-operative Development Fund of Canada (CDF) are actively raising much-needed funds for the people of Ukraine and calling on the cooperative community across Canada to help.

The Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) is pleased to host its first virtual Well-Being Conference with an original lineup of meaningful, community-focused wellness workshops and activities from October 18 to 22, 2021.

This conference, happening during Co-op Week, is a week-long series dedicated to supporting the well-being and resilience of communities in the co-op housing sector, housing sector, co-op organizations and beyond.
