Yuri Artibise is an experienced co-operative leader who has served our sector in many capacities.
He has been a CHF BC Board member from 2012-2018, and from 2019 to present, where he currently serves as Treasurer. He also has served as a board member of Rooftops Canada since 2018. Yuri lives in First Avenue Athletes Village Housing Cooperative in Vancouver where he also serves as Treasurer.
At the 2019 CHF BC AGM Yuri put forward the Global Climate Emergency motion on behalf of his co-op, which led to the establishment of the Climate Emergency Task Force. He believes that the sustainability of housing co-operatives depends on the resilience of our planet; and that housing co-operatives can play an important role in responding to the climate emergency.
In his professional life, Yuri is the Executive Director of the Vancouver City Planning Commission, and a public policy advisor and community engagement consultant.
Yuri will be a panelist for the morning plenary and a facilitator for Working together: Climate emergency in our co-ops at the Spring Education Conference on April 24, 2021.
