CHF BC’s Active Resilient Communities program provides a series of facilitated conversations and support to help co-ops develop a grounded vision for the future and an action plan to reach that vision.

We are excited to start offering this program to member housing co-ops across B.C.

CHF BC hosted the latest get-together in our neighbourhood event series on July 12, 2023, with a group of housing co-ops in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver.

Members from several Marpole housing co-ops spent a beautiful summer evening touring neighbourhood co-ops. During the tour, they shared their co-op living experiences with one another.

Shivani from our Active Resilient Communities (ARC) team joined a recent Vancouver Island Council meeting to share information on the new program and how it can benefit housing co-op members.

On April 28, 2023, CHF BC resumed its program of neighbourhood events with a group of housing co-ops located in the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood of Vancouver.

Members from a number of housing co-ops from the neighbourhood had the chance to meet and discuss issues of common interest and visit several of the neighbourhood non-profit housing co-ops.

CHF Canada and CHF BC have close ties. Staff at both organizations have excellent working relationships, sharing resources and best practices through various collaborations.

In February 2023, CHF Canada invited CHF BC to participate in its annual Member Services Meeting in Ottawa, bringing together people from across Canada over a couple of days to discuss critical issues for non-profit housing co-ops.

We are excited to report the completion of our third pilot engagement with our Active Resilient Communities (ARC) project.

The Community Housing Transformation Centre offers support, information, and grants to the community housing sector, including non-profit housing co-ops and their residents.

Join our team supporting member housing co-ops by providing meeting support, sound governance & management advice, and promoting our programs and services.

We’re pleased to announce a new service to help CHF BC members measure and track energy use.

"Benchmarking" may not sound that exciting, but it’s definitely something we’re thinking about and excited to promote. It fits well with our shared concern for environmental sustainability.

Last autumn, we let you know about new obligations that your co-op faces: housing co-ops and other landowners need to submit reports to the Land Owner Transparency Registry. These obligations were delayed, but the revised November 30, 2022, deadline for filing transparency reports is fast-approaching.
