Candidate and supporter pledges

Throughout our campaign we've been asking candidates and supporters to sign a pledge that they will support a provincial government solution to long-term stable funding for rent supplements and parter with co-op housing and other levels of government to create more non-profit housing and co-ops.

You can see the signed pledges here:

Joshua Galbraith, BC Conservative, Saanich South
Susan Low, BC Green Party, Esquimalt-Royal Roads
Mayo McDonough, BC Green Party, Nanaimo-North Cowichan
Manuel Pratas, BC Conservative Party, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows
Murray Rankin, NDP MP, Victoria, BC
Fatima Siddiqui, BC Liberal Party, Vancouver-Hastings
Jane Sterk, BC Green Party, leader, Victoria-Beacon Hill

Members open doors to candidates in final election weekend

In the final push of our election campaign, co-ops opened their doors to election candidates to make their voices heard.  H.W. Flesher played host to NDP representative Mable Elmore (standing in for Adrian Dix and herself a candidate in Vancouver-Kensington) on Friday night. The tour of the co-op's gardens and other highlights was open to all the candidates running in the riding of Vancouver Kingsway.

Waterside Co-op in Saanich-South had their turn on Saturday. The event saw two more CHF BC “You Hold the Key” campaign supporters pinned.

To get the full election perspective on both events  - and more - see our election blog. Still to come: the Member Forum tonight, Monday, May 13, will feature a review of our election campaign and activities of our shadow candidates. Tomorrow, it's Election Day: don't forget to vote!

Election Housing Forum at Semi-Annual Meeting

Lots of activity over the May 4-5 weekend with an election housing forum at our Semi-Annual General Meeting on Saturday and an all-candidates event at Lakewood Terrace Housing Co-op. Read our media release from Saturday for a complete summary of that four-party panel.

At the all-candidates event on Sunday, NDP representative, Shane Simpson, candidate for Vancouver-Hastings (and encumbent in that riding), repeated his message of support from Saturday. Fatima Siddiqui of the BC Liberal Party spoke about the importance of generating a strong economy in order to be able to help fund programs and would be prepared to bring our issues to government; and Jeremy Gustafson, an independent candidate in the Mount Pleasant riding, said he was committed to helping everyone find housing, but he didn't have a clear plan yet. In a follow-up to the event, Fatima Siddiqui signed our campaign pledge and commited to support our goals which earned her a key, and made her the first Liberal candidate to get one.
