First-ever online event will confront the racism, inequities and barriers to housing in B.C. – and generate solutions for secure, affordable housing for all.

If you think you know the co-op story, you might be in for a learning curve come October 31st. The Fall Education Conference kicks off with a plenary panel of Black and Indigenous anti-racism and co-op educators to discuss the history of co-ops, the lens of systemic racism through which we interpret that history and how both conscious and unconscious expressions of racism play out in our co-op communities today.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first virtual town hall on April 22nd. We hope you enjoyed exploring what housing co-ops need to know during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event attracted more than 180 co-op members, making it the best attended event in CHF BC’s history.

Our focus wasn’t on how to survive. Rather it was how to thrive and do whatever’s necessary to emerge from these challenging times stronger than ever.

On January 29, CHF BC met in Heritage Hall on Main Street with nearly 50 co-op members representing 20 co-ops, as well as management companies and *RePlan.

Everyone was there to talk about a new approach to renewing City of Vancouver leases.

Around 150 CHF BC members came together on Saturday, October 28 for the 2017 Fall Education Conference.

All conference participants were invited to share their thoughts in an afternoon plenary that looked at what we can learn from looking back and looking forward in the development of our housing co-ops.

A record-breaking 162 members filled 282 workshop spots at our Spring Education Conference on April 1, held at CHF BC’s bright and light-filled new event venue, the Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver…

When CHF BC opened its doors 35 years ago, housing co-ops were already well established in British Columbia. And some of those original members are still living in their co-op communities today!

On Friday, March 24 CHF BC presented its first Century of Co-operation awards to 18 co-op members whose age plus the years they have lived in a co-op equals at least 100 years. The ceremony was held at the beautiful Westin Wall Centre (Vancouver Airport) in Richmond.

Island members filled the room on February 15 for the Vancouver Island Council meeting in Victoria, networking with new and familiar faces, delegates and co-op members.

CHF BC held an AGM unlike any other on Sunday, November 20 in Richmond in tandem with the launch of Housing Central: BC’s Affordable Housing Conference.

On October 22, CHF BC members came together for another inspiring education conference. There was great feedback from participants new, returning and from around the province.
