The week (October 15 to October 21) is Co-op Week 2023. CHF BC’s group of social enterprises are proud to continue our tradition of celebrating this important occasion.
Co-op Week celebrates the guiding principles and values of cooperatives. It is a time to proudly celebrate the contributions the co-operative sector has made to the lives of Canadians. It is also to reflect on the seven co-operative principles and put them into practice in you co-op and broader community.
At CHF BC, we’re always eager to connect with our member co-operatives and learn more about the unique communities they create.
In mid-September, four staff members embarked on an incredible journey through the interior of British Columbia.
Our newest partnership with TRRUST (Transition in Resources, Relationships and Understanding Support Together), supports and facilitate a connection between housing co-ops and youth aging out of government care.
Please join us on October 3, 2023 to discuss perspectives from both the transitioning youth and housing co-operatives.
CHF BC’s Active Resilient Communities program provides a series of facilitated conversations and support to help co-ops develop a grounded vision for the future and an action plan to reach that vision.
We are excited to start offering this program to member housing co-ops across B.C.

CHF BC hosted the latest get-together in our neighbourhood event series on July 12, 2023, with a group of housing co-ops in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver.
Members from several Marpole housing co-ops spent a beautiful summer evening touring neighbourhood co-ops. During the tour, they shared their co-op living experiences with one another.
CHF BC has been advancing the co-op housing option for more than 40 years. We support almost 15,000 co-op homes in thriving, successful communities.

The 2023 Co-op Housing Summer BBQ was a resounding success, filled with mouthwatering food, delightful live music, creative face painting, and thrilling games.
Held in the heart of Burnaby at Central Park, this event brought together families, friends, and community members for an unforgettable day of summer festivities.
Background CHF BC has provided meeting chair services to its member organizations for over 25 years. This involves connecting skilled chairpeople with housing co-operatives to conduct meetings in accordance with their Rules and the Cooperative Association Act. Twin Rainbows Housing Co-operative received a CHF Canada Regional Diversity Grant to hold two workshops on land and cultural dispossession, reconciliation and creating awareness around colonial structures. The workshops aimed to help co-op members build better relations with the land and the host nations.
