CHF BC is proud to support our 2SLGBTQIA+ community this month, and throughout the year.

We are committed to ensuring that the federation—and our member housing co-operatives—are safe spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and their allies.

May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada. This month provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the contributions that Canadians of Asian decent have made—and continue to make—in Canada. It is also a reminder for all of us to come together to combat anti-Asian racism and discrimination in all its forms.

Nowruz translates into “new day” in Farsi. It is a festival based on the Iranian Solar Hijri calendar and celebrates the arrival of spring. The holiday marks the traditional Iranian New Year, which begins on the vernal (spring) equinox.

It is largely a secular holiday celebrated by more than 300 million people around the world from various ethnic groups and diverse communities.

Colleges and Institutions Canada (CICan), along with its 50 – 30 Challenge Hubs and Knowledge, Mobilisation and Dissemination Centres, have been working hard to bring you an incredible lineup of talented speakers to round out the month of March.

They’ll be discussing topics pertaining to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and offering practical steps that organizations—including housing co-operatives—can take to make positive change in the workplace.

As the new moon appears in the sky tonight, the Lunar New Year begins welcoming the Year of the Tiger.

Tamil Heritage Month is celebrated each January to increase awareness and appreciation for all the achievements and contributions of the Tamil people. British Columbia—and the rest of Canada— is home to a large Tamil diasporas.

Join us at CHF BC as we recognize and celebrate Sikh Canadians and their accomplishments and contributes.

Since 2016, Tamil Heritage Month is celebrated in January all over Canada—and in countries around the world—to increase awareness and appreciation for all the achievements and contributions of the Tamil people.
