Exploring Hogan’s Alley: The Rich Tapestry of Vancouver’s Black History

As we celebrate Black History Month, it’s important to reflect on the rich tapestry of Black experiences woven into the fabric of Canadian history.

Recently, staff and directors from CHF BC, BCNPHA and CHF Canada embarked on a journey through Vancouver’s Black History as they toured Hogan’s Alley

New CLT Affordable Housing Project Announced

The governments of Canada and British Columbia along with the City of Vancouver announced combined funding of more than $91 million for a major affordable housing project that will build 154 new homes for people living and working in Vancouver.

The project is owned and operated by Community Land Trust in partnership with McLaren Housing Society. The first two floors will be the new home for QMUNITY, a non-profit organization that works to improve queer, transgender, and Two-Spirit lives.

Marpole Co-op Get-together builds new relationships and partnerships

CHF BC hosted the latest get-together in our neighbourhood event series on July 12, 2023, with a group of housing co-ops in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver.

Members from several Marpole housing co-ops spent a beautiful summer evening touring neighbourhood co-ops. During the tour, they shared their co-op living experiences with one another.

VIDEO: Grandview-Woodland Housing Co-operatives Gathering

On April 28, 2023, CHF BC resumed its program of neighbourhood events with a group of housing co-ops located in the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood of Vancouver.

Members from a number of housing co-ops from the neighbourhood had the chance to meet and discuss issues of common interest and visit several of the neighbourhood non-profit housing co-ops.

Your feedback will help the city understand the housing needs of seniors, Elders and older adults aged 55+ living in Vancouver. Your input will help shape policies, partnerships, and advocacy actions being developed as part of the Seniors Housing Strategy this year.

On February 14, 2023, Vancouver City Council established 15 advisory committees for the current term. These opportunities may be of interest to Vancouver co-op members or friends.
